Description

The library provides scanning services free of charge.  Documents are scanned onto a flash drive.  If you don't own a flash drive you can email the document to yourself directly from the scanner.

Curbside Assistance

Description

Place a hold, get notified when it is available, and call us before you pick it up - we can arrange contact-free curbside pickup.

How it works

  1. Request an item* by making a holds request in the catalog, or by calling your branch.
  2. Library staff will get to work getting your items together. Processing usually takes 1-3 days.
  3. When your items are ready, you will receive a notification by phone, email, or text. Make sure your notification preferences are up to date in your library account. You will have 7 days to pick up your items.
  4. Pull up to the designated curbside delivery spot in the library parking lot.
  5. Call the branch number to let them know you have arrived.
  6. Pop your trunk and a staff member will come out to place your items inside your vehicle.
  7. Enjoy!

Homebound Delivery(within town limits)

Description

The Starke County Public Library’s Homebound Library Service provides delivery and pick up of library items to patrons within the town limits who are physically unable to come to the library. This service is available to Starke County residents unable to come to the library due to mobility, health or disability barriers. We will pick up and deliver items every other week. If you or someone you know could potentially benefit from our Homebound Library Service, please contact us. Eligibility: Must be a resident of Starke County Public Library and eligible to obtain a library card.

Checkout: 10 items at one time. 4 week check out.

Materials: Books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, Blu-Rays and music CDs are all available for delivery. Because of the 4 week checkout period, some new items including DVDs may not be available for delivery.

Renewals: Renewals are permitted as long as there are no holds on the item(s). Please call the library at (574) 772-7323 and speak with someone at the Adult Services Desk to renew items.

Fines: There are no fees or fines for the service or for items that are overdue. However, items that are lost or damaged while in your possession are subject to full replacement cost of the item and a $5.00 processing fee.

Ordering materials: Please call the library at (574) 772-7323 and speak with someone at the Adult Services Desk to request specific items. Otherwise, we will choose materials for you based on the preferences indicated on a materials interest form you fill out.

Dropping off/returning materials: Staff members will drop off a bag containing library items. Items need to be returned in the library bag as well. Staff members will bring items to the patron’s door but will not be able to enter the home. To the best of our ability, we will work with patrons to ensure they are able to retrieve the bag of materials without difficulty.

Notary

Description

The Library has staff available to notarize documents free of charge. Please contact the location to make sure someone is available. This service does not require an appointment, but a Notary may not be available at all times the library is open. To ensure a Notary will be available call to schedule an appointment at least 72 hours in advance. A Starke County Public Library card is not required to use this service.

Guidlines

  • Documents to be notarized must be signed in front of the Notary. Do not sign them beforehand.
  • Documents to be notarized must be complete. Bring the entire document, not just the page(s) that needs to be signed.
  • All people signing the document(s) must be physically present to have their signature notarized.
  • Valid photo identification is required for each person signing the document. The following types of photo IDs are accepted: state-issued driver’s license or ID card, passport or military ID. It needs to be current or not expired within the previous 3 years. Your name on the ID must match the name on the document being notarized.
  • If your document requires witnesses, it will expedite the process if the witnesses accompany you to the notarization. This is especially important if you will be going to a branch location for the service.
  • Notaries reserve the right to decline service if any of the above guidelines are not met, if there are concerns about the authenticity of the documents, or if the individual(s) signing the documents appear to be unaware of what they are signing or under duress.
