Hello! I am Jaya Viswanathan, a neuroscientist, engineer, and artist born and raised in India. I am passionate about understanding how the brain works, so after graduating as an engineer, I pursued a Masters in Neuroscience followed by a Doctorate in Cognitive Neuroscience. I then worked as a post-doctoral fellow for 4 years at the University of Maryland studying the neural mechanisms of auditory and speech perception in noisy environments. I then joined the Division of Neuroscience at the National Institute on Aging as a Kelly Government Program Analyst. In my free time, I volunteer as a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) educator I fell in love with art while pursuing my Doctoral degree. When I am not working or painting or exhibiting my art, you can find me reading, writing, or chatting with visitors at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History about arthropods (including butterflies), their brains, behavior, and evolution.
Don’t hesitate to send me an email at babysensesbook@gmail.com, join my mailing list to receive neuro-updates, or send me a message using the form – I would love to hear from you!
